My early childhood was spent hovering above my dad's Beseler enlarger. Amidst the darkroom's foggy, orange glow, I was hypnotized from the beginning and quickly fell in love with the photographic process. My collegiate years were spent exploring New York City and San Francisco (and rebelling against art school conformity). I developed my point of view, intimately engaged with my environment and shot without reservation. I toured our diverse landscape, spanning time for the first 3 years of the previous administration. After learning from small towns and big cities alike, I migrated to Portland for bike lanes and misfits. Portland has been my background of choice for the past 9 years.
My work stems from a deep rooted need to translate ideas and feelings. For me, photography amalgamates documentation, problem solving and emotional reflex in 1 instantly gratifying image. Thought provoking or heart aching, I seek to make an impression. I collect the subtle, raw and quiet details of life. I love the chase, getting lost on purpose and not knowing what lies ahead. True beauty does hide beneath the surface. It's just a matter of finding the right angle.
